A Turnkey O-Ring Installation Cell Is Taking Shape on Our Floor.
Turnkey Automated Cells
Most of what we show you are some kind of seal installing machine. This time we're showing you a fully automated turnkey system, at least the early stage beginnings of one.
Here's the pitch we usually make: our ASP and ISP machines are versatile, easy to integrate, and simple to run standalone or with extra heads. All true. We also build something that skips the "integrate it yourself" step entirely, because we do the integrating. Right now, one of those builds is working its way through our shop, and we thought it was time to start showing that side of the business instead of assuming everyone already knows we do it.

What the operator sees
From the outside, this is about as simple as automation gets. Load one parts feeder bowl. Load one o-ring feeder bowl. Turn it on. That's it, the cell does the rest.
What's actually happening underneath that simplicity
A SCARA robot pulls parts from the parts feeder line and delivers them to an AIS o-ring installation machine. The o-ring goes on. A fiber optic sensor then checks whether it actually did, and the system sorts the part accordingly, good parts one way, rejects another. No manual inspection step. No operator judgment call. The machine verifies its own work and acts on the answer.
That's a lot of coordination happening between a bowl feeder, a robot, an installation machine, and sensors! All of it has to talk to a control system big enough to keep them synchronized. We'll get into that control box in more detail soon. For now, we'll just say it's a bigger panel than our standard builds, because it's got a lot more to manage.


Why we're telling this story now
This particular build is going for a machine builder, and we're keeping most of the specifics quiet for now while some details get sorted out. We picked this one to document because it's active on our floor right now, not because turnkey builds are rare for us. We're going to document this build as it happens: frame, wiring, assembly, testing, all of it, leading up to a full breakdown once it's finished.
