A Dual ASP-1 System That Eliminates Changeovers and Doubles Throughput
A recent AIS project demonstrates how powerful a paired ASP-1 system can be when designed for multi-step seal assembly. This customer needed to install two different rings, a plastic snap ring and an O-ring, onto four unique parts, all without slowing production with tooling changes.
The solution: one right-hand ASP-1 and one left-hand ASP-1, positioned side-by-side and engineered to run every part type using a single pair of mandrel geometries.

One Setup, Four Parts, Two Rings
The right-hand machine installs the snap ring. The left-hand machine immediately follows with the O-ring. The operator (or a robot in a future upgrade) simply loads the part, engages the first machine, and moves directly to the second. No mandrel swaps. No head assembly changes. No adjustments between parts.
This approach reduces complexity while keeping ring placement consistent across every part shape.
Why This Configuration Matters
A paired ASP-1 cell like this delivers clear operational advantages:
-
Zero changeover downtime even with high part variation
-
Stable, repeatable installations for both snap rings and O-rings
-
Higher throughput with a compact, efficient footprint
-
Reduced training burden, operators only load, push, and move
-
Easy upgrade path to full robotic automation when needed
For manufacturers facing multi-step assembly, limited labor, or mixed production, this video proves how much efficiency can be unlocked with a well-designed ASP-1 pairing.
This version of the video is longer and shows installation and verification for ALL the parts we have for that machine!
